Coronation Street's new face, Olivia Frances Brown, who plays the character Jodie Ramsey, has unveiled her character's intentions for Shona Platt.
Jodie made her first appearance earlier this year during the Corriedale crossover event, where she was held captive in the back of a van by Emmerdale's Graham Foster. Jodie managed to break free but knocked herself unconscious in the woods, leading to her hospitalisation.
In an unexpected turn of events, Jodie was stunned to see Shona Platt, who had also been involved in the Corriedale car pile-up, in the same hospital and it was later disclosed that the two are estranged sisters.
Recent scenes have indicated that Jodie is concealing secrets and only recently confronted Shona for leaving her with their dreadful parents and showing no concern for her.
In spoilers for the upcoming week, Shona, suspecting that Jodie is hiding something and attempting to locate their estranged father, follows her to a psychiatric hospital, reports the Daily Star.
At the hospital, an emotional Jodie introduces their bewildered, estranged father. Jodie then reveals how she was left to look after him when their mother absconded.
Later in the week, Shona discloses her thoughts about visiting their dad, but Jodie manipulates her into going out for the evening instead.
After getting Shona drunk, a scheming Jodie calls David Platt to assist in getting his intoxicated wife home.
With Shona safely tucked up in bed, Jodie persuades David to spend more time with her by watching a film.
The following morning, Jodie prepares David a hot breakfast, wrapping it up for him to take to work, but concealing his discomfort, David thanks her before leaving. Whilst Jodie is dusting the living room, she shatters David and Shona's wedding photograph...
Discussing Jodie's intentions and true agenda regarding Shona, actress Olivia told Digital Spy: "She wants to put Shona out of the picture, even if for a few hours, so she can step into her shoes.
"There's a moment where Shona is fast asleep, and Jodie watches a film with David. She wants to feel that closeness and validation that Shona gets every day."
The soap star continued: "Seeing Shona with the house, the husband and the family - everything Jodie ever dreamt of - is hard for her. She blames Shona for the fact that she doesn't have those things too."
