Coronation Street actress Cait Fitton has posted an emotional message on social media following a family bereavement.
The 62,000-strong Instagram following of Cait, who portrays Lauren Bolton on the ITV soap, has become accustomed to glimpses into her life beyond the cobbles -- from behind-the-scenes moments at Corrie to snapshots from sunny getaways.
Since joining the show in 2022, Cait's character Lauren has been at the centre of numerous dramatic storylines. The determined and fiercely loyal teenager has faced challenging circumstances, including being raised by her far-right extremist father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson) and ultimately killing her abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
However, last week saw Cait share a deeply personal tribute following her grandfather's funeral. She posted an image to her Instagram Story showing a football shirt alongside a 'Greatest grandad' cushion from the service.
In a touching message, Cait wrote: "Said goodbye to my hero today. My best mate till the day I die, always and forever your little dancing queen RIP GDAD.", reports the Mirror.
The actress had previously revealed last month that her grandfather passed away shortly before his birthday. Sharing a collection of black and white photographs together, she wrote: "Happy heavenly birthday to my best buddy.
"It's been just over a week since you left us... and I'm still trying to navigate how to get through this without you. Hope you are dancing up there with gran."
Cait recently marked her third anniversary on the cobbles, sharing on Instagram: "3 years playing the pocket rocket that is Lozza Bolton. Time flies when you really are having fun. Let's look back on some of my favourite moments so far.."
She continued: "Thank you everyone who has shown nothing but love towards Lauren over the past 3 years . I love playing a character that is so complex to play . I love her!".
Expressing her pride and gratitude, she said: "I feel so proud and privileged to have been given the honour to play out such inspiring stories and raise such important issues throughout my time on the cobbles so far."
She concluded with a heartfelt thank you: "Thank you @coronationstreet and to @brookekinsella my amazing agent for always believing and trusting me within this process. I will forever be grateful to call this my job."
