Scarlett Moffatt expressed her disappointment after becoming the latest celebrity to be eliminated from I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, departing just a day before the series final.
The Gogglebox star's journey on the ITV programme concluded after she finished last in a challenging trial. Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec, Moffatt remarked, "I felt like I was so close. I was the last girl standing."
Her eviction sets the stage for Friday night's final, which will see Olympian Sir Mo Farah, former football manager Harry Redknapp, actor and DJ Craig Charles, and actor Adam Thomas compete. The four men will vie for the title of "ultimate legend 2026".
Reflecting on her experience after leaving the camp, Moffatt admitted she found the spin-off series in South Africa more demanding than her original stint in 2016, where she was crowned Queen Of The Jungle. "Just the trials. Who comes up with these? They're sickos," she quipped.
When asked about her decision to return, she stated, "This show honestly means everything to us." She also shared a personal tribute to the Geordie presenters: "I just feel like growing up, I watched you two on SMTV Live, and hearing your accent made me feel like, if I wanted to do it, then I could, because of you. It means a lot." She added, "I've really, really had the best time."
Discussing her fellow campmates, Moffatt affectionately described them: "We're all as mad as a box of frogs, aren't we? I just feel like everyone's eccentrically wonderful." Asked who she hoped would win, she endorsed Sir Mo Farah, saying, "Please Mo. He is just the most wonderful human being. There's not a bad bone in his body."
The trial that led to Moffatt's exit required contestants to count coloured balls as they descended a tube, all while being showered with maggots, cockroaches, crickets, and mealworms. The celebrity whose estimate was furthest from the correct number of blue balls faced eviction.
Thursday night's episode also featured the celebrities successfully completing the iconic Cyclone challenge, navigating a water slide against a barrage of huge balls and high-pressure hoses. Their victory earned them heartfelt phone messages from loved ones. Additionally, the group enjoyed a breakfast of ten eggs after successfully catching them from a large "chicken" perched in a tree above their camp.
The final of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa is scheduled to air from 7:30pm on Friday across ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player.
